Mount Everest post-mortem Veterans of Mount Everest joined other mountaineering leaders July 13 to discuss the future of guided climbs on the mountain.
Transcripts from the event--held at The American Mountaineering Club in Golden, Colorado--will be posted here as soon as they become available. The event, billed as "A Day on Mount Everest," included a symposium on current issues facing high-altitude mountaineering and guiding. The symposium was announced soon after the deadly May 11 weekend on Mount Everest during which eight climbers died, including Rob Hall of New Zealand and Scott Fischer of Seattle. A fund-raising effort continues for Fischer's family. The FISCHER/PRICE FAMILY FUND is accepting donations to help Fischer's widow, Jean Price, and their two children. The fund is maintained at Seafirst Bank in Seattle (800-442-6680). |
