Meet the 1997 Outside Adventure Grants team

Morgan Beasley
Team leader
Age: 15
Hometown: Astoria, Oregon
A very passionate man when it comes to adventures and the outdoors, he has been the logistical mastermind behind our expedition proposal, and is the most experienced member of our team. Morgan has logged hundreds of miles backpacking and kayaking. He has some experience mountaineering and will be planning the route logistics and equipment. A Boy Scout with the rank of life, Morgan will be an exchange student to Finland next year.

Dan Solmon
Provisions and gear Manager
Age: 16
Hometown: Corvallis, Oregon
Dan has more trails under his belt than anyone in the group, and is Morgan's long-time hiking buddy. With extensive experience in the Cascades and Utah, he will be the leading the mountaineering charge.

William Gunderson
Team trainer
Age: 17
Hometown: Astoria, Oregon
Having lived in Alaska for 14 years, Bill is more than ready for the snow and ice of Mount Sir Sandford. Bill is a careful, cautious man who always balances his need for adventure with a good sense of safety.

Michelle Olson
Team photographer and transportation manager
Age: 16
Hometown: Astoria, Oregon
Any lack of experience backpacking or climbing is made up by Michelle's hiking experience and love for the outdoors. Her strengths are problem solving, an amazing ability to always find an answer, and her constant high spirits. The team will be counting on her to keep its energy up. And there's no question that she can keep up with any man on the trail.
